Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract until June 2031.

The England international was out of favour for a starting role under former manager Ruben Amorim earlier this season, and there was talk of him leaving the club.

However, his fortunes have changed since Amorim’s departure. Under interim boss Michael Carrick, he has been a mainstay in the starting line-up.

This has now paved the way for the 20-year-old to extend his stay at United until 2031. His salary has been hiked from £20,000 to £120,000 per week.

Mainoo has been almost ever-present in the heart of the midfield alongside Casemiro in recent months, and has played a key part in the club’s qualification for the Champions League next season.

He has also returned to the England squad recently and should secure a spot in the World Cup squad too. Manager Thomas Tuchel has hinted that the United graduate could make the cut this summer.
