Scotland centre Harris to rejoin Newcastle

Scotland centre Chris Harris is set to return to Newcastle Red Bulls.

Harris has agreed a deal for next season to rejoin the club where he made 104 appearances after coming into the professional game before a move to Gloucester.

The 35-year-old, who has won 47 caps for Scotland and one for the British and Irish Lions, has spent this season at Bath after leaving Kingsholm last summer.

“It’s a real full-circle moment to be heading back to Kingston Park,” he told the club’s website.

“I am looking forward to returning to where it all started, helping to galvanise this new group of exciting players as we build for the future.”

Harris is the 23rd player signed by Red Bulls for the 2026-27 campaign with Dan McFarland to take over the revamped squad as incoming head coach.

And Harris’ experience is cited as something that can help knit the new-look group together.

“Chris is a top player who has proven himself at the elite end of the international and club game over many years,” said sporting general manager Neil McIlroy.

“He will add real steel and experience to a key area in our midfield, and almost equally importantly will help develop the wealth of young talent we have within our ranks.”
