Government ministers were met with a barrage of questions about the prime minister’s future, as they left 10 Downing Street after a cabinet meeting.

One of the MPs in the meeting, Health Secretary Wes Streeting, remained silent after being asked whether would mount a leadership challenge against the prime minister.

More than 80 Labour MPs have now publicly called for PM Keir Starmer to either leave his post or to set out a timetable for when he will.
