Arsenal interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, according to The Daily Mail.

The Gunners are determined to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season and a marquee solution could be prioritised.

They have been linked with the likes of Morten Hjulmand and Manu Kone in recent weeks and Guimaraes has now emerged as a target.

The Brazilian has been one of the Premier League’s best-performing midfielders and could be prepared for a bigger challenge.

Arsenal have held talks with the player’s UK-based representatives but have yet to open formal negotiations with the Magpies.

Newcastle have received multiple bids from Tottenham Hotspur for Sandro Tonali, who is desperate to pursue a move away from the club.

It remains to be seen whether they would entertain Guimaraes’ exit if the Italian were to depart from Tyneside in the next few days.

The former Lyon man has just two years remaining on his contract. If he is reluctant to renew, a transfer could possibly be on the cards.
