Chelsea captain Reece James has picked up a minor hamstring injury on international duty for England.

The right-back has been ever-present for the Three Lions at the World Cup, but he won’t be involved in the final group stage game against Panama.

Speaking in a press conference yesterday, England head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed a minor hamstring injury for the Blues skipper.

He was still hopeful that the 26-year-old could play a part in the knockout stage, and it remains to be seen whether he can recover quickly.

In James’ absence, Djed Spence is a frontrunner to start at right-back, having begun on the opposite end against Ghana in the last outing.

Trevoh Chalobah and Ezri Konsa have played at right-back for their clubs in the past, and could be utilised in the position too if required.

Midfield duo Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson have also been nursing injuries, but they are expected to be fit for today’s encounter.
