Arsenal interested in signing Chelsea graduate

Arsenal are reportedly exploring a move for Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, who is increasingly unsettled at the west London outfit.

The Englishman is considered one of the brightest talents from the Blues academy, but his playing time has been limited over the past year.

The youngster has yet to receive guaranteed playing time from the starting XI, and his future could be away from the Blues as early as this summer.

Chelsea have recently secured a deal to land Atalanta’s Marco Palestra, who is expected to compete for the right-back position alongside Reece James and Malo Gusto. The latter could yet head for the exit door.

The club are likewise keen on landing a new centre-back. They have opened talks with Crystal Palace to try and secure an agreement for Maxence Lacroix after he returns from the World Cup with France.

Acheampong is comfortable playing as a right-back or in central defence. With the Blues set to bolster both positions, he is seriously contemplating a move elsewhere. London rivals Arsenal are said to be keen.

At Arsenal, Acheampong could get an equal opportunity to compete for the right-back role with Jurrien Timber. Ben White looks set to be sold.
