Tottenham reject Newcastle bid for Archie Gray

Tottenham have rejected a bid from Newcastle for Archie Gray, with Spurs understood to be holding out for a higher fee before agreeing to sell the player.

According to Football365, Newcastle have made an approach for Gray, but Tottenham’s response has been to turn down the offer as it stands. The report, dated July 3, indicates that Spurs are not satisfied with the level of the proposal and would require more money if they are to allow the player to leave.

The interest comes during a transfer period already marked by the arrivals of Fernandes and Tonali, but Newcastle’s move for Gray suggests they are still looking at further additions. Tottenham, however, appear determined not to let the player go on terms they consider below their valuation.

No final agreement is in place, and the situation could depend on whether Newcastle return with an improved offer. For now, Tottenham’s position is clear: the current bid has been rejected, and a larger fee would be needed to advance talks.

Gray’s future may therefore remain a point of discussion while the transfer window continues. Spurs’ stance gives them control of the negotiation, while Newcastle must decide whether to increase their proposal or move on to other targets.

The case highlights the balance clubs often try to strike in the market: strengthening their own squads while protecting the value of players who attract external interest. Unless Newcastle raise their offer, Gray is set to remain at Tottenham under the terms reported so far.
