Exeter sign prop McArthur from Gloucester

Exeter Chiefs have signed loosehead prop Archie McArthur from Gloucester for the 2026-27 season.

McArthur made 20 appearances for the Cherry and Whites during three campaigns while being dual-registered with Champ side Hartpury, who he also played 25 games for.

The 23-year-old began his career in Wasps’ academy and has also represented England at under-20s level.

“He’s played against us a few times interestingly, so we watched those games in detail and saw him doing very well,” Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter told the club website, external.

“His strengths are his around-the-field movement, his defence and his ability on the ball. He’s got a bit of work to do around set piece, but that’s something we feel we can help him develop.

“With Scotty [Scott Sio] moving on, we needed to make sure we’ve got the correct strength in depth around our front-row department.”

The Chiefs have not disclosed the length of McArthur’s deal.
