Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola heaped praise on centre-back Jeremy Jacquet following the 1-0 Premier League win over Bournemouth on the road on Sunday.
The Reds continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a hard-fought win over the Cherries. Alexander Isak scored the winning goal before the hour mark.
Speaking after the game, Iraola was asked about the progress of Jacquet and he was certainly pleased with the Frenchman’s contribution in the early part of his career.
He said: “I’m happy for him because he’s also received his first international call-up. He’s going with France and that is a big national team and I know that he is happy. He’s still very young, he is adapting really well to the Premier League.”
Liverpool have picked up nine points from their opening five league matches. They have not been flourishing in the final third, but have certainly made progress.
They have a huge challenge after the extended international break, considering Manchester City will be visiting Anfield on October 11. The Reds lost 2-1 in the same fixture last time around.
Liverpool have looked more defensively assured at the start of the new campaign and will be aiming to avenge the defeat next month.
