Who are SME Insights?

SME Insights was launched to support and champion the UK’s small and medium-sized business community by delivering high-quality insight, analysis, and recognition. How did my business come to be nominated?

To protect the integrity of our programmes, we do not disclose the identity of those who submit nominations. In many cases, nominations are made internally by our research team. In others, they may originate from clients, colleagues, or industry contacts who respond to one of our direct invitations.

Importantly, success is not determined by the number of votes received. All outcomes are based on merit, performance, and evidence. To maintain fairness and security, we actively monitor voting behaviour and investigate irregular activity where necessary.

What happens if I accept a shortlist position?

All shortlisted candidates are asked to formally confirm that they wish to proceed. This ensures we focus only on businesses that are genuinely interested in being considered.

Once accepted, nominees enter our internal review process. You will have the opportunity to submit supporting information, which is assessed alongside independent research conducted by our team. Final evaluations typically take up to eight weeks to complete.

Who decides the final winners?

Final decisions are made through a structured, two-stage review process carried out by an experienced research panel with extensive backgrounds in business analysis and industry evaluation.

This approach ensures objectivity and consistency, allowing us to identify the organisations and individuals that most clearly demonstrate excellence within their field.

Is there an awards ceremony or presentation evening?

No, SME Insights does not host physical awards ceremonies or gala dinners.

Rather than allocating resources to a single event, we prioritise cost-effective, results-driven recognition that delivers ongoing value. Our focus is on digital promotion and practical marketing assets that winners can use throughout the year to support brand credibility and growth.

What happens if I am successful?

Successful candidates are notified in advance and asked to observe a short press embargo while final details are confirmed.

Coverage is typically delivered through a digital awards publication, supported by optional physical and digital assets. These may include trophies, certificates, plaques, online advertising, and tailored press releases, allowing winners to showcase their achievement in a way that best suits their business objectives.

Are there any fees involved?

There are no mandatory costs at any stage—whether for nomination, shortlisting, or winning.

Optional promotional enhancements are available, but all winners receive a complimentary recognition package as standard. Our policy is simple: every winner should be able to benefit from their achievement regardless of budget.

Why does the email domain differ from the website domain?

To manage high email volumes efficiently, our campaign communications are sent from a separate domain to our main website correspondence. This helps ensure timely delivery and faster responses from our team.
