Manchester United are planning to beat Arsenal to the signing of Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon during the ongoing transfer window, according to The Sun.

The 17-year-old is presently on a scholarship contract at the Championship outfit, and has made it clear that he won’t be extending his contract beyond June 30.

As a result, Rovers are likely to sanction his sale this winter. Arsenal are ready to pay around £1 million for his services, but could face competition from United.

The Red Devils have been monitoring the youngster’s progress at the Premier League 2 level and could present an offer of their own to the talented wonderkid.

Tyjon has been on the Gunners’ radar for the last year or so, but the prospect of staying close to home could entice him to join the Red Devils instead this winter.

A final decision is likely to be made in the coming weeks. Rovers are prepared to cash in on the striker after his decision to snub a professional deal with them.
