Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed a fresh injury blow ahead of the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea on the road on Wednesday night.
The Gunners returned to winning ways last weekend with a 4-1 win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup third round. They are scheduled to host Wigan Athletic in the next phase of the competition.
The focus will now turn to the League Cup where they face the Blues on the road in midweek. Ahead of the game, Arteta has revealed that Piero Hincapie is nursing a minor groin issue sustained against Liverpool in the Premier League.
The 43-year-old added that the Ecuadorian needs to be assessed further, but was hopeful that the defender won’t be sidelined for too long.
Alongside Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori seems a big doubt for Wednesday as he is not fully fit after a hamstring concern. Myles Lewis-Skelly looks set to continue at left-back.
