Liverpool have yet to convince Ibrahima Konate to extend his contract beyond next summer, according to The Athletic.
The Frenchman centre-back has been a mainstay for the Reds over the past years and has formed a terrific partnership alongside Virgil van Dijk.
However, his future at the Merseyside giants is very much uncertain, having yet to commit to a new deal beyond the end of June.
The Athletic have now revealed that Konate is not close to penning an extension and could walk away on a free transfer.
Real Madrid were hot on the trail of him earlier last year, but the La Liga giants are no longer exploring a move for his services.
He could still pursue a new challenge away from the Premier League with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain keeping tabs.
There is also on the radar of Saudi Pro League clubs, but Konate is quite clear that he wants to continue his career in Europe next term.
