Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has praised three players after the 2-0 Premier League win over Manchester City on Saturday.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways with an impressive victory over their arch-rivals at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, Carrick had special praise for Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro, who were brilliant in the heart of the midfield.
The 44-year-old also hailed the performance of Harry Maguire in the heart of the backline.
The England international has made his first start since his hamstring injury and stepped up on the day.
Carrick said on the trio: “Yeah, I thought Kobbie was great in there alongside Case, I thought between the two of them.
“I thought it gave us a strong foundation really with Licha and Harry. I felt it was a game for experience and knowing what it feels like. It was a big ask for H [Maguire] and credit to him.”
With the victory, United have moved within one point behind fourth-placed Liverpool and will be hoping to leapfrog the Merseyside outfit over the coming matches.
