England manager Thomas Tuchel has clarified that Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa only picked up a minor quad injury on Nations League duty.

The centre-back has featured in a couple of games for the Three Lions this campaign, but he has been sent back to the Gunners this week.

A quad injury was cited as the reason, but Tuchel has allayed fears by saying it is nothing major and he did not want to take a risk with him.

Tuchel told reporters: “He got another hit on the quad and that caused a light trauma and we decided not to let him play through this pain.

“So, he left camp to get treatment for both his issues now. I think [it is] nothing major but not worth the risk taking.”

Konsa has been Gabriel Magalhaes‘ regular centre-back partner in the injury absence of William Saliba since the start of the campaign.

The Englishman has several days to recover before Saturday’s game against Leeds United, and should be deemed fit to start for the Gunners.
