Arsenal could seek to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez on loan in January, according to Standard Sport.
The Gunners were determined to land a marquee forward over the summer, and Alvarez was one of the top names on their radar.
Arsenal held a series of talks with the striker, and manager Mikel Arteta also contacted the Argentine regarding a possible move.
Alvarez was adamant that he would only leave Atletico for Barcelona, and ended up staying with Diego Simeone‘s side instead.
Since then, the 26-year-old has been restricted to three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 with a solitary Champions League start.
If his situation doesn’t improve by January, the door could open to an exit. Arsenal have been fancied to make an initial loan move with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.
Barcelona have apparently cooled their interest amid their high-flying start, and it appears they may not compete with India for his services.
