Bristol have signed former Newcastle hooker Bryn Gordon as injury cover for their upcoming games.

Gordon comes into the squad with Harry Thacker still out because of a neck injury he sustained while playing in the Prem Rugby Cup last month, with his return date still to be confirmed.

“With Harry Thacker currently sidelined, it was important for us to strengthen our options at hooker, and Bryn is a talented and hungry player who will add competition and depth to the squad,” director of rugby Pat Lam said.

Gordon, 25, left Newcastle in the summer having featured in two Prem Rugby Cup games for the team and has also played for North Harbour in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship.

Prop Andrew Turner has also agreed a new deal with the Bears having joined the team before the start of this campaign.

The 24-year-old, who has made two Prem Rugby Cup appearances, was previously playing for Champ side Doncaster.

Bristol have not disclosed how long Gordon or Turner’s deals are with the club.
