Chelsea about to sign Spanish defender

Chelsea are on the cusp of landing Spanish left-back Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano.

The Blues sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid earlier this summer for £52 million.

They have since targeted Chavarria as a replacement and have finally found a breakthrough.

After two failed bids of £12m and £20m respectively, the Blues have managed to seal the deal.

Vallecano have accepted an initial £25m for the 28-year-old, who has already agreed terms.

The Spaniard is likely to undergo his medical in the next couple of days before his transfer.

The Blues are not done in the transfer market, and they are expected to make a few more signings.

Experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson is one of those poised to join the club on a free transfer.

Henderson recently secured his release from Brentford and has agreed a two-year Chelsea deal.

His leadership qualities could be beneficial on the pitch as well as the dressing room next term.
