Chelsea have confirmed the purchase of Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria after weeks of speculation.

The 28-year-old emerged as the number one left-back target for the Blues after Marc Cucurella made the switch to Real Madrid.

After several rounds of negotiations, they eventually secured an agreement with Vallecano for a package in the region of £18 million.

Chavarria underwent his medical with the Blues earlier this week, and he has now put pen to paper on a long-term deal until June 2032.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m so excited to get started. This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Chelsea have been linked with Arsenal‘s Myles Lewis-Skelly in recent days, but they have no plans of pursuing the youngster after Chavarria’s arrival.

The Blues are still not done in the transfer market and could seek a marquee midfielder if Enzo Fernandez makes the switch to Manchester City in the near future.

Manchester City have opened talks with the player’s entourage and could make a formal approach to the Blues soon. Chelsea value him at around £120m.
