Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is closing in on a move to Manchester City, according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.

The Argentine has been tipped to leave the Blues throughout the summer, and a transfer is expected to materialise in the next few days.

Man City have yet to make a formal offer on the table, but Fernandez’s absence against Luton Town tonight is a clear hint.

The World Cup winner personally asked manager Xabi Alonso to leave him out of the squad amid his desire to join the Cityzens.

Chelsea want Â£120m to part ways with the 25-year-old, but Man City believe they can strike an agreement for a lesser fee with add-ons.

The Blues will pursue a replacement if the Argentine departs, and they are currently looking at Bournemouth‘s Alex Scott to fill the role.

The Cherries are reluctant to part ways with the Englishman, but Chelsea are confident that an agreement can be struck for Â£80m.
