Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo is poised to leave the club on a season-long loan deal, according to BBC Sport.

The Portuguese joined the Blues from Sporting CP last summer, but had a difficult debut season after a string of injuries.

The 21-year-old took part in pre-season for the Blues this summer, but the decision has been made to loan him out.

Essugo is likely to make the switch to sister club Strasbourg. He could occupy the final loan spot at the Ligue 1 outfit.

Chelsea have no plans to reinforce their midfield before the deadline unless there is a high-profile departure soon.

Enzo Fernandez has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, but no offer has been made thus far.

The Cityzens are eager to land the World Cup winner and the upcoming week could be crucial to decide his future.

Fernandez has remained calm about his future and he is expected to start the league opener at Fulham on Monday.
