Cornish Pirates prop Petch signs new deal

Experienced Cornish Pirates prop Alfie Petch has agreed a new deal with the Champ club for the 2026-27 season.

The 26-year-old Cornishman joined the Pirates on a permanent deal last summer from Gloucester.

The former Exeter forward previously had two loan spells at Mennaye while at the Prem club.

He has been a fixture in the Pirates’ front row this season, missing just two league matches and has played a total of 52 times for the club across his loan and permanent stays.

He becomes the 14th player to agree new terms for next season after young back Finn Love signed a deal on Thursday.

“He’s such an important part of the scrum and the success we’ve had in that area of the game, but his skill level around the park is extremely underrated,” joint-head coach Alan Paver said.

“He’s a local lad and I know it means a great deal to him to be here and represent Cornwall.”

Meanwhile, Cornish Pirates have confirmed that six players will not be offered new terms at the end of the current season.

Charlie Rice, Ollie Andrews, Iwan Price-Thomas, Will Rigelsford, Rory Suttor and Ben Cambriani will all leave the club in the summer.
