Influential Gloucester fly-half Charlie Atkinson has signed a new contract to stay at Kingsholm until the summer of 2029.

The 24-year-old, who won an England cap against the United States last year, was voted the Cherry and Whites’ player of the season by players, fans and coaches last season.

Atkinson moved to Gloucester from Leicester Tigers in December 2024 and has gone on to play 57 times for the club in all competitions.

As well as his one England appearance he has also been a regular in England’s A side, playing three times for them last season.

“He’s someone we identified early on as a player we wanted to bring into our environment, and since joining the club, he’s had to work incredibly hard for his opportunities,” head coach George Skivington told the club website.

“Over the past year, we’ve really seen the rewards of that dedication on the pitch.

“It’s a real coup for us to secure Charlie’s future. There was plenty of interest in him, but we’re confident in the programme we’ve built here and the vision for what we can achieve. Clearly, Charlie believes he can play a big part in that as well.”
