Back-row forward Ollie Leatherbarrow has signed a new two-year deal with Newcastle Red Bulls.

The 23-year-old has been at the club since the summer of 2023, joining from Exeter Chiefs, and has scored three tries in seven appearances this season.

The former Scotland Under 20 international has featured 28 times for the club so far across all competitions and was previously Exeter University’s BUCS Super Rugby captain.

“I know I need to make the most of my opportunities when they come around because it’s a hugely competitive back-row group here.

“I’m just buzzing to be part of it during this exciting period for the club, and am really happy to have the contract sorted,” he told the club website.

Newcastle’s sporting general manager Neil McIlroy said Leatherbarrow is a player with “a lot of potential” who has also “demonstrated great determination.”
