Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh injury update on Piero Hincapie following the 4-1 win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup third round earlier on Sunday.
The Gunners booked their spot in the fourth round of the Cup competition after a convincing win at Fratton Park. Speaking after the game, Arteta provided a fresh update on Hincapie’s fitness.
The Spanish tactician said that the Ecuadorian defender will be assessed tomorrow to find out the extent nature of his hamstring injury sustained against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
He said: “Probably tomorrow we’ll know a little bit more where he’s at. Obviously he had to come off [against Liverpool] which is never a good sign, but hopefully it’s not too much [time out].”
Arsenal take on arch-rivals Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesdat night. With Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori still injured, Myles Lewis-Skelly could continue at left-back.
Arteta is expected to name a strong starting XI for that game, having made 10 changes during the FA Cup third round win at Pompey.
