Sale Sharks hooker Alfie Longstaff has signed a new deal to remain with the Prem club until 2029.

The 20-year-old joined the club’s academy during the 2024-25 season and went on to make his senior debut during that season.

He had a breakthrough campaign last year, making 11 first team appearances and featured in four successive Prem games at the tail end of the campaign.

“I had a really good taste of first team rugby in big games at the back end of last season and it’s made me want even more,” he said.

“It was exciting and it did probably come earlier than I was expecting but I was ready, and I wanted to take the opportunity with both hands.”

Prior to joining Sale, Longstaff played junior rugby with Sandal and later moved on to the Yorkshire Rugby Academy.

“Alfie is a massive talent and he took his opportunity last season,” Sharks director of rugby Alex Sanderson said.

“We’re delighted that he’s committed his future to the club because we believe he could be a really top player at this club for a very long time.”
