Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice following his sublime equaliser against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The England international has been a brilliant performer for the Gunners, and he stepped up yesterday to score a crucial equaliser in the 82nd minute.

Rice linked up splendidly with Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres in quick succession before unleashing a powerful low shot beyond Manuel Neuer.

Speaking after the game, Gerrard was full of praise for his compatriot and said that the 27-year-old is ‘world-class’ and scored a top goal.

He said on TNT Sports after the 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena: “Declan Rice is a world-class midfielder and that was a top, top goal.”

Rice has had a superb start to the new campaign with Arsenal. He has already made five goal contributions in all competitions for the club.

Next up, Everton visit the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. Rice will no doubt start in the centre of the park against the Toffees.
