11 Affordable Spring Break Destinations for Travelers of All Ages

This post was originally published on this site.

2026 has only just begun, but as we trudge our way through winter, it’s not too early to look forward to warm spring travels. Now is actually the perfect time to begin planning your affordable spring break vacation, especially if you want to keep it as budget-friendly as possible.

This year, hotel rates in the US are down 4% according to data by Kayak, while international hotel rates are up 16%—so consider looking local to make the most out of your paycheck. And while it’s possible to stretch your budget in just about any destination, the locations on this list will really maximize your dollar this spring. Whether you’re craving a beach getaway or are in need of a city break to soak up some art and culture, there’s an affordable spring destination for you.

Below, I’ve compiled a list of the best affordable locations to visit in spring 2026, based on travel trends, data from both Dollar Flight Club and Kayak, and my experience as a travel editor for over two years. This list also includes some of my personal favorite spring break destinations from trips I’ve taken over the years. According to Expedia data from 2025, the best (and most budget-friendly) time to book is three weeks to a month ahead of your travel dates, but as long as you book less than 90 days out, you’ll find great deals without stressing about late planning.

Here are 11 destinations—both international and domestic—you can visit this spring without blowing your travel budget. From US and Canadian urban hubs to coastal getaways in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, wherever you head this spring, you’ll be sure to get a good bang for your buck.

With endless fun to be had on the Boardwalk, amusement parks for families, and exceptional golf courses, Myrtle Beach is a quintessential spring break destination. While it might be a bit chilly for a dip in the ocean, the mild weather is still comfortable enough for walking along the boardwalk, popping into shops, and enjoying activities like mini golf and a day at the aquarium. With average hotel rates at just $155 a night in March according to Kayak, you’ll save big on stays, meaning more of your budget can go to activities and experiences.
