Chelsea are weighing up a surprise move for Aston Villa striker Donyell Malen during the upcoming transfer window, according to Teamtalk.
The Blues are expected to make multiple additions to their squad this summer, and a marquee forward could be one of their top priorities under their next manager, due to be appointed soon.
Malen has now emerged as a top target for the London giants and it is claimed that they have been impressed by his progress since his mid-season move to Roma on loan.
The Dutchman has netted 12 goals from just 17 appearances for the Serie A outfit, and the Blues are said to be contemplating an approach for the former Arsenal graduate.
Aston Villa have had Financial Fair Play issues with UEFA for a while, and they may need to balance their books again when the transfer window reopens during the off-season.
Malen could be one of those heading for the exit door and there could be another big-money sale. Morgan Rogers could be on his way out too.
