Why is Ukraine rolling out the red carpet for a US far-right influencer?

This post was originally published on this site.

Laura Loomer, a Trump ally and MAGA influencer, made a visit to Ukraine where she was granted extensive access to the destruction caused by the war.

For years, Loomer has been a prominent critic of US assistance to Ukraine, at times labelling the country a “Nazi state”. However, after visiting Ukraine, she says that she had fallen for some “Russian propaganda” and offered an apology to President Zelensky. The BBC’s Paul Adams examines how Laura Loomer’s stance on the war in Ukraine has shifted and how President Zelensky could use Loomer’s influence inside the White House to his advantage.
