Adobe Brings 70-Plus Creative and PDF Tools to ChatGPT

Small businesses often rely on a patchwork of tools to create marketing images, edit videos, prepare documents and turn raw data into customer-facing materials. Adobe is now bringing many of those tasks into ChatGPT through a single plugin designed to move users from an initial idea to a finished asset without repeatedly switching applications.

The company announced the Adobe plugin in ChatGPT in an Aug. 6 blog post. The plugin combines more than 70 tools from Adobe’s creative and productivity products, including Adobe Express, Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Stock.

For small businesses, the potential advantage is straightforward: owners and employees can describe what they need in conversational language and allow the plugin to select and coordinate the appropriate Adobe tools behind the scenes.

A retailer, for example, could upload product photos and ask the plugin to apply a consistent visual style across the collection. A service business could turn an instructional video into shorter clips for several social networks. A company preparing for a trade show could upload spreadsheet data and request professionally formatted event badges, catalogs or infographics.

One plugin connects multiple Adobe applications

Adobe previously released individual apps and tools for ChatGPT. The new plugin brings those capabilities together in a unified experience that works across ChatGPT Work and Codex, according to the company.

Users activate the plugin, describe the desired result and continue working within the conversation. The plugin can create images, edit photos, produce videos, customize designs and generate PDFs. It can also save completed assets to Creative Cloud, allowing users to continue working on them in Adobe applications.

That approach could reduce the friction that small teams face when moving projects among separate design, video and document tools. It may also help employees who understand their company’s products and customers but lack advanced design or editing skills.

“We’re building ChatGPT to connect our users with the best capabilities for the task at hand. Adobe’s category-leading creative and productivity tools help people express their creativity, communicate and be more productive, and we’re excited to expand our partnership with Adobe to bring those capabilities into ChatGPT with the Adobe plugin in ChatGPT.”

The plugin does not eliminate Adobe’s traditional applications. Instead, Adobe positions ChatGPT as a starting point for common tasks and its desktop or web applications as the place for more advanced work. A business could batch-edit product photos in ChatGPT, for instance, and then open a selected image in Photoshop to adjust layers, masks and individual details.

Marketing teams can repurpose existing content

One of the most relevant uses for small businesses involves turning existing content into formats suitable for different channels.

A company can upload a long-form video and ask the plugin to produce a highlight reel. It can then adapt the footage for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and other social platforms. That may help businesses extend the value of webinars, interviews, demonstrations and customer testimonials without editing every version manually.

The plugin can also browse design templates, display interactive previews and customize selected designs with new colors and copy. Users can animate those designs for social media or convert them into PDFs for digital distribution or printing.

This could support recurring tasks such as creating promotional flyers, menus, event announcements, social posts, sales sheets and seasonal campaign materials. Maintaining a consistent style across those assets remains important, particularly when several employees contribute to the same campaign.

Adobe says the plugin can apply a common look across a set of uploaded campaign photos and turn a selected image into a product or packaging mockup. For a small retailer or consumer brand, that could speed up early campaign planning and make it easier to test several visual directions before committing to a final design.

Businesses can turn data into finished documents

The plugin also extends beyond image and video production. Users can upload a spreadsheet or dataset and describe the document they want to create.

Adobe says the system can transform that information into formatted PDFs, including catalogs, event badges, infographics and other customer-ready materials. This may be useful for companies that regularly copy information from spreadsheets into manually designed documents.

A wholesaler could use product data to create a catalog, while an event organizer could generate attendee badges from a registration list. A consultant could turn survey results into an infographic or client report. These workflows could reduce repetitive formatting work, although businesses should still verify names, prices, statistics and other details before distributing the finished files.

Guest access comes with limitations

Businesses can begin using a broad selection of Adobe tools as a guest. Signing in with an Adobe account unlocks generative capabilities, access to Creative Cloud files and the ability to save work across multiple sessions.

That distinction matters for companies evaluating the plugin. Guest access may be sufficient for testing basic workflows, but teams that need generated content, stored files or continuity between sessions will need to connect an Adobe account.

The announcement does not provide details about pricing, usage limits or which capabilities may require specific Adobe or ChatGPT subscriptions. Small businesses should review the current account requirements before restructuring an existing production process around the plugin.

Companies should also establish internal review steps. Conversational tools can accelerate a project, but faster production does not guarantee that every output follows brand guidelines, contains accurate information or meets accessibility and licensing requirements. Employees should check generated designs and documents before publishing, printing or sending them to customers.

Businesses working with confidential customer information, financial records or unreleased product materials should also review the applicable Adobe and ChatGPT data policies before uploading sensitive files. Adobe’s announcement focuses on the plugin’s creative capabilities and does not provide detailed guidance on handling confidential business data.

Availability and setup

Adobe says the plugin is available globally through the ChatGPT web interface and app. Users can add it from the Plugins area, begin a new conversation and type “@Adobe” to select it. They can also choose Adobe through the “+” button used to access installed plugins.

The launch reflects a broader effort by Adobe to make its tools available inside AI chatbot platforms. The company has also expanded access across Claude and Copilot and said integrations with Slack and Gemini would launch later in August.

For small companies, the plugin’s value will depend on whether it can reliably simplify the work employees already perform. Businesses that frequently create social content, campaign assets, product images or formatted documents may find immediate uses. Others may benefit from testing one repeatable workflow—such as repurposing videos or generating catalogs—before adopting the plugin across a larger team.
