Two children and a woman have been injured while on a fairground ride in South Yorkshire, police said.

Emergency services were called to Maltby Crags Fair in Rotherham on Friday evening, which closed early after the incident.

South Yorkshire Police said three people, aged 11, 13 and 21, had been taken to hospital for treatment.

Blyth Lane was closed between Muglet Lane and Victoria Road to allow people to safely exit the fairground, the force added, with the road since reopening.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed the two injured children were taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital after it attended the fair at about 18:50 BST.

Two ambulances and three rapid response vehicles were sent to the scene, the service said.
