Oasis may be back on tour next summer but they will not be playing Glastonbury Festival, according to co-organiser Emily Eavis.

The band announced a series of 2027 gigs across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US last week, leaving a potentially Glastonbury-shaped hole in their calendar.

Oasis are due to play concerts at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on the Friday and Saturday of Glastonbury, but don’t currently have their own gig scheduled on the Sunday.

This led some fans to conclude the Gallaghers may have been planning to rock up at Worthy Farm’s Pyramid Stage to close the event. But Eavis has put those rumours to bed in a direct response to one Glastonbury-goer on social media.

“Please say you’ve got Oasis,” commented one follower on Instagram.

Eavis replied: “Sorry Jimmy, not this time!”

This tallies with what frontman Liam Gallagher posted on X last month, in response to one fan-site noting they were bookmakers’ favourites to headline the festival.

“It’s not happening,” he wrote. “So all you croc wearing flag waving [people] can calm […] down.”

Like Glastonbury, Oasis took 2026 off.

The band’s 38-date tour marks the next phase of their comeback following their acclaimed 2025 live reunion, which made an estimated £300 million.

“Come see. It will not be televised,” they announced ahead of the last tour.

It was, however, ultimately documented in their own concert film titled Don’t Look Back in Anger, released earlier this month.

The UK’s biggest festival, Glastonbury – which is broadcast on the BBC – offers worldwide exposure for artists, but Eavis has been open in the past about paying headliners far less than they’d get elsewhere.

Also, the Gallagher brothers, now both in their 50s, did not play three nights in a row throughout their comeback tour – making the prospect of Glastonbury seem even less likely.

Oasis made their Glastonbury debut in 1994 as cool young things on the NME Stage, now called the Woodsies Stage, before the release of their debut album Definitely Maybe.

They returned to headline the Pyramid Stage the following year, with Take That-turned-solo star Robbie Williams joining them on stage, and again in 2004.

Both Gallaghers performed at Worthy Farm as solo acts during their years apart but it seems they will not return there together, in 2027 at least.

Glastonbury tickets will go on sale on 1 October, though the lineup is not expected to be revealed until the spring.

Who will headline Glastonbury?

Last year’s Glastonbury Festival saw headline performances from The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, with Rod Stewart in the so-called legend slot.

Oasis had been among the favourites to headline next year, alongside the likes of the perennially rumoured Taylor Swift and Madonna, as well as Harry Styles, Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter and Fred Again.

Previous headliners Radiohead, Pulp and Florence and the Machine have also been mentioned in some quarters along with Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Chappell Roan and Eminem.

Bookies have also provided odds for possible headline sets from Charli XCX, Raye, Bad Bunny, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Bruce Springsteen and Little Simz.

Last month, Eavis confirmed they had booked their headliners for next summer but scotched rumours that Madonna will be among them.

Speaking to Katie Razzall on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, Eavis said: “No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that.”

She added: “But we have got three [other] headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.”

Swift was announced as a headliner for Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary in 2020. But that year’s festival was cancelled entirely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So, like Madonna, she is yet to make her Worthy Farm debut.

When asked about the possibility of a performance from Swift at last, Eavis laughed and said she didn’t want to discuss the line-up any more.

We’ll put her down as a definitely maybe then, for now.
