Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that his team did not respect the game following their embarrassing 3-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on the road.

The Gunners went into the match with a nine-match winning league run stretching to last season, but they were simply second-best against a rampant Seagulls outfit.

Brighton were clear-cut 3-0 winners on the day while Arsenal were wasteful with their finishing. Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz were guilty of missing clear-cut chances.

Speaking after the game, Arteta acknowledged that his team were extremely poor technically and did not respect the game.

He said to Sky Sports after the dismal loss: “A really disappointing result and performance. Brighton were another gear up from us. We were extremely poor technically and not respecting the game.”

Despite the loss, Arsenal are only goal difference behind league leaders Manchester City but the Cityzens have a game in hand against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
