Chelsea are weighing up a surprise move for Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente, according to Teamtalk.
The west London giants have sought to add more experience to the squad and they signed Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson this summer.
Blues manager Xabi Alonso is eyeing similar additions next year and Llorente has now emerged as a top target for the London heavyweights.
The 31-year-old has been a key player for Atletico over the years with 300 plus appearances. He has played as a right-back or in midfield.
His versatility has impressed Alonso and the Blues could seek to sign him in January, given his current deal expires at the end of the campaign.
Atletico remain optimistic about extending his stay, but could be tempted to accept a reasonable fee to sanction his sale if he does not wish to renew.
Juventus are also keeping tabs on the World Cup winner, but the Bianconeri prefer to recruit him on a free transfer when his deal expires.
