A Premier League player has been involved in a car crash near Hull City’s training ground weeks after a similar incident involving his teammate.

A black Mercedes, which the BBC understands belongs to midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath, 24, crashed on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

Pictures of the scene show the car on its side. One resident told the BBC that the vehicle had also struck and damaged her car.

Hull City said the club was “aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the training ground and can confirm that no one was harmed in the incident”.

Humberside Police said emergency services were called at 08:30 GMT.

In September, Gourna-Douath’s team-mate Sorba Thomas was involved in a crash on the same road.

Paul Nickerson, who lives on the road from where the incident took place, said: “I arrived just after it turned over because I heard the noise.

“If it had happened a minute before, my wife was walking down the road with our kids taking them to school. So, it’s really worrying.”

Tracy Evans, who has lived on the road for 19 years, said she has been asking for the speed limit to be reduced for about 10 years.

She said: “At that time, children are coming, going to school, the parents are coming back.”

She added measures needed to be put in place “to avoid something happening in the future”.
