Watch: ‘I am Jane Doe’ protests across US call for end to sexual violence

Protests were held across the US on 8 October, calling for an end to sexual violence, following allegations of sexual assault involving members of a fraternity at Cornell University.

Survivors, students and advocates rallied and protested in communities and on college campuses across more than 40 states.

This comes after a lawsuit was filed against by “Jane Doe”, who alleges she was given drugs and alcohol before being sexually assaulted by several members of Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity while incapacitated in October 2024. She has accused Cornell University of failing to adequately investigate and discipline those involved.

Following the filing of the civil lawsuit, prosecutors reopened the case. New York Governor Kathy Hochul appointed the state’s attorney general as special prosecutor.
