Watch: Can the Fort Hood shooter’s execution be livestreamed?

The US Department of Defense says they plan to livestream the execution by firing squad of Nidal Hasan, who shot dead 13 unarmed US soldiers at Fort Hood military base in 2009.

It is believed it would be the first public execution in the US in almost a century.

But can the US military actually livestream an execution? Rules on the recording and filming of executions differ between state, federal and military regulations – as Aisha Sembhi explains.
