Malo Gusto to make Chelsea transfer decision

French defender Malo Gusto could push for a move away from Chelsea when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

Gusto has struggled for regular playing time under manager Xabi Alonso and he played just eight minutes against Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend.

The former Lyon man finds himself behind Pedro Neto and Reece James in the pecking order for the right wing-back position in Alonso’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

With Moises Caicedo back to full fitness, Gusto is no longer in contention for a midfield role, too, and this could urge him to move on when the window reopens.

Manchester City were keen on landing the Lyon graduate over the summer, but they were unable to pay anywhere close to the £75m asking price.

The Cityzens could return for him at the turn of the year and may seek a discount on the fee if Gusto continues to struggled for regular minutes.

Gusto is said to have a good relationship with manager Enzo Maresca.
