Joe Marchant is back in the England set-up after being included in a 36-player training camp for this autumn’s Nations Championship matches.

The 30-year-old centre has not played for England since the 2023 World Cup as he became ineligible after joining Stade Francais and being based in France following the tournament.

However, he became available to Borthwick again having returned to England to play for Sale Sharks and is part of a training squad which assembled on Sunday for a three-day camp.

Marchant, who helped Harlequins become domestic champions in 2021, has earned 26 caps for England.

In September, he made it clear he has ongoing ambitions in the international game, saying: “I want to play for England, that’s what I want to do. I’m proud to have played for England and I don’t want it to be my last time at that World Cup. I want to play again.”

England play Australia on 8 November before facing Japan on 14 November and New Zealand on 21 November.

Former England captain Courtney Lawes is also at Sale Sharks after leaving French side Brive but has not been recalled by Borthwick.
