Small businesses using NetSuite are gaining new ways to put artificial intelligence to work across their operations, from identifying unpaid invoices and analyzing financial discrepancies to managing inventory and improving customer service.
Oracle NetSuite introduced SuiteSkills at SuiteWorld 2026 in Las Vegas on October 26, unveiling more than 45 prebuilt AI business skills designed to help organizations investigate problems, make informed decisions, and take action. The new capabilities combine NetSuite’s financial and operational data with AI reasoning, allowing businesses to use their preferred AI services without having to teach those systems how individual business processes work.
The announcement expands NetSuite’s efforts to make AI more accessible across business functions while maintaining existing controls over sensitive information and authorized actions.
“SuiteSkills give our customers more ways to apply NetSuite’s business expertise through the AI service of their choice,” said Evan Goldberg, founder and executive vice president of Oracle NetSuite.
Bringing AI Into Everyday Business Operations
SuiteSkills build on the NetSuite AI Connector Service, which allows organizations to connect their preferred AI models to NetSuite data and business tools.
According to NetSuite, more than 13,000 customers have already adopted the connector service. SuiteSkills work with connected AI models and are also available through Ask Oracle within NetSuite Next.
Rather than requiring employees to manually gather information from multiple business functions, the skills help AI systems understand financial relationships, operational processes, and potential implications of business decisions.
NetSuite is introducing capabilities across six primary areas:
- Financial analysis and close: The Variance and Flux Analysis skill helps finance teams identify unusual financial changes, distinguish recurring expenses from one-time events, and investigate issues that could delay financial closing.
- Billing and cash flow: The Revenue Leakage skill identifies potential underbilling, unbilled services, and accounting exceptions. Other capabilities help prioritize overdue invoices and assess liquidity.
- Inventory and fulfillment: Inventory Movement Insights and Fulfillment Performance Insights help businesses investigate inventory imbalances, shipping delays, and unexpected work-order costs.
- Projects and service delivery: The Project Operations Assistant can convert statements of work into editable project plans, recommend personnel based on their roles, and support project creation after review and approval.
- Sales and customer service: Sales Assistant and Customer Support Assistant use customer account information and support cases to prepare insights, draft responses, and suggest next steps for employees to review.
- Workforce management: Labor Cost Advisor and Time-to-Pay Reconciliation Auditor help organizations investigate labor spending patterns and differences between employee time records and payroll information.
How Small Businesses Could Benefit
For smaller companies operating with limited administrative resources, these capabilities could reduce the time employees spend gathering information and investigating routine business problems.
Consider a wholesale business experiencing delayed customer orders. Rather than manually reviewing inventory records and fulfillment data, an operations manager could use AI equipped with SuiteSkills to investigate the delays and identify possible causes.
A professional services company could use the project management capabilities to turn a statement of work into an initial project plan, reducing manual planning while allowing managers to review staffing recommendations and approve the proposed work.
Businesses facing cash flow pressure could also benefit from faster identification of unpaid invoices, overlooked billing opportunities, and unexpected financial changes. These insights could help owners prioritize collections and address problems before they become more costly.
However, the usefulness of these capabilities will depend on the accuracy of the underlying business records and employees’ ability to interpret AI-generated findings. Identifying a possible billing discrepancy, for example, does not necessarily mean an invoice is incorrect or additional revenue is owed.
Maintaining Control Over AI Access
NetSuite emphasizes that SuiteSkills operate within the company’s established roles and permissions. This means AI services connected to NetSuite remain subject to the access restrictions and permitted actions assigned within the business system.
“NetSuite remains the core system that connects and secures business information, processes, and actions, while SuiteSkills help customers get more value from AI without compromising control over what people can access and do,” Goldberg said.
For small business owners, these controls are particularly relevant when AI systems handle financial records, payroll information, and customer data.
Organizations considering SuiteSkills should review employee permissions, establish procedures for validating AI recommendations, and determine which activities require human approval. Businesses using external AI models should also examine the data-handling practices of their chosen providers.
While NetSuite describes SuiteSkills as available to all customers, the announcement does not provide detailed pricing information or specify whether using particular third-party AI services involves additional costs.
SuiteSkills are available for download through GitHub and popular AI service marketplaces.
The introduction of SuiteSkills reflects a broader shift toward AI tools that do more than generate text or summarize information. By connecting AI reasoning with established business processes, NetSuite is positioning the technology to help employees investigate operational problems and prepare actions within their existing workflows. For small businesses, the potential value will depend on how effectively those capabilities translate into time savings, better decisions, and measurable operational improvements.
