Toronto Maple Leafs fans voiced their frustration on social media following the team’s 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Monday night.
The Leafs fell behind 3-0 early and never fully recovered despite late goals from Easton Cowan and William Nylander. Several Maple Leafs players drew heavy criticism from the fanbase after the defeat.
Here’s how fans on X reacted, with one tweeting:
“Bob should be relegated to backup. Forever.”
Another chimed in:
“Mckenna is a dud. Doesn’t even work hard enough to break a sweat.”
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
“Leafs fans talked for four days about how the Pacific division is weak, and how the Oilers have it so easy, only to lose to the big bad Calgary Flames,” a third fan wrote.
“No game has literally ever counted less than this game. They gave Bob a penalty for trying to make a save, and then watched Cooley cover the puck 40 feet away from the crease,” one X user wrote.
“Terrible effort. It’s like when it’s supposed to be a win, the leafs relax and let it go. Not the same energy as last few games,” another chimed in.
“Would be excellent if the goalie you just paid 7 million a year for could save routine uncontested shots but alas,” added another.
Matvei Gridin’s three-point night powers Flames to a dominant 5-2 win over Maple Leafs
