Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Alcaraz‘s former coach, has recently made an announcement that he is returning to professional tennis with a new player in 2027. The news is making waves on social media about the potential new partnership. It is also drawing heavy criticism because of the announcement’s nature. Fans pointed out that Ferrero announcing an upcoming announcement is odd and shows his ego.
“Juan Carlos Ferrero reveals that he already has a player lined up to return to the ATP circuit next season. He will announce it on November 9 🎾,” the caption of the post read.
Thanks for the submission!
“Making an announcement for an announcement is crazy,” one fan wrote.
“Truly never seen a coach who craves attention this much. Astonishing ego,” another fan commented.
“Ferrero announcing an announcement of the announcement, full LeBron James stuff,” another fan shared.
“Main character syndrome,” another fan pointed out.
Juan Carlos Ferrero happens to be a former World No. 1 tennis player from Spain, who went on to become one of the most successful coaches in tennis history. He coached Carlos Alcaraz from 2018 to 2025. Under his guidance, the Spaniard went on to win multiple Grand Slams. In 2026, Ferrero moved away from the ATP Tour to enjoy quality time with his family and took time to consider his next big partnership.
Coco Gauff’s ex-coach points out his prediction about Juan Carlos Ferrero joining Jannik Sinner’s coaching staff
In a recent interview, Coco Gauff’s ex-coach, Brad Gilbert, pointed out that he was right about Juan Carlos Ferrero not joining Carlos Alcaraz’s biggest rival, Jannik Sinner‘s coaching staff. After Sinner confirmed that his next coach would be Magnus Norman, Gilbert said it made the most sense that he didn’t believe Ferrero would be the current World No. 1’s next coach.
“Remember I said a while ago that I saw no chance that it would be Ferrero, and you just felt like somebody that’s going to be joining the team probably has to have a calm demeanor, and that’s exactly what Magnus has,” Gilbert said.
He also added that Magnus Norman is the perfect fit for Sinner as the Swedish coach, as he is an easy guy to be with and he will potentially gel well with the rest of Sinner’s team members.
