WWE is just a few hours away from hosting its penultimate episode of Friday Night SmackDown before Crown Jewel. With so many blockbuster matches booked tonight, the main event has now been revealed.
According to Viper Reports, Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship defense against Trick Williams is currently scheduled to be the main event of tonight’s episode of the blue brand. Although the match is included in the early plans, there’s always a possibility that the company could still make changes before the broadcast.
Thanks for the submission!
This is a major opportunity for Williams, who has been looking to become a double champion, as he currently holds the United States Championship. Meanwhile, Sami Zayn has not had an easy time as champion. He has continued to accept challenges from other superstars. He even narrowly escaped losing the gold to Je’Von Evans this past Monday on RAW.
If Trick Williams manages to defeat Zayn, it would completely change the championship situation ahead of Crown Jewel. The winner will face Roman Reigns in a Champion vs. Champion clash at the upcoming event.
That said, nothing is confirmed until the show airs. Nevertheless, the current plans suggest the creative team is placing considerable importance on tonight’s Undisputed WWE Championship match.
Sami Zayn explains how he truly felt after losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to CM Punk
Sami Zayn has revealed how he truly felt about losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to CM Punk just nine days after winning the title.
During his appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, Zayn explained that while he is always playing a character on screen, some of the emotions he displays on TV are rooted in genuine feelings he has held onto for years.
“It’s coming from a real place,” Sami Zayn said. “So, that’s why, when people are like, ‘Oh, man, this character stuff, it feels real.’ Well, it’s 100% real. It did take me 20 years to win the title, and I did lose it in nine days. That’s the character story. It’s also the real story. I have all these legitimate gripes as a character, but they all follow the real-life trajectory, not only of the character, but of the real person.”
