“Jamo slipped on his route” “Dude is such a liability”: NFL fans react as Jameson Williams costs Jared Goff an INT vs. Vikings

This post was originally published on this site.

Jared Goff threw his first interception of the season Sunday, and it started with Jameson Williams losing his footing. The Detroit Lions receiver fell on his route in the second quarter against the Minnesota Vikings, and Goff’s pass landed in the hands of James Pierre.

The turnover followed a quick Minnesota score. Justin Jefferson caught a 1-yard touchdown 35 seconds into the quarter to put the Vikings up 7-3. Detroit then ran twice for 2 yards before Goff looked for Williams on the play that went wrong. The Lions avoided further damage. Minnesota went three-and-out on its next possession after Kyler Murray overthrew Jefferson on third-and-9, and a Brett Thorson punt pinned Detroit at its own 8-yard line.

“Jamo slipped on his route,” one fan said.

“Dude is such a liability on the field,” another added.

“They told me Goff was a MVP candidate love really has a free mvp this year,” a third commented.

Here are a few more reactions:

“Vikings defense is 1 of 1,” one wrote.

“A Goff INT and a Will Reichard missed field goal in the same game. Anything can happen,” another added.

“I ain’t heard a Detroit lions fan say a PEEP all week lmfaooo They’re so boring and used to losing,” a fan said.

The Week 8 matchup was important for both teams. Detroit (4-2) entered the game behind Minnesota (6-0). A loss would leave the Lions three games behind the Vikings in the NFC North.

How did the Detroit Lions’ offense fare before the interception?

The Detroit Lions had already struggled to find rhythm by the time Williams slipped. Detroit won the toss and deferred, and Minnesota’s opening drive ended when Will Reichard’s 57-yard field goal try sailed right, his first miss of the year that was not a block.

The Lions took advantage only partly. They settled for a short field goal and a 3-0 lead after Jared Goff, under pressure, could not connect with Jahmyr Gibbs on third-and-5. Later in the second quarter, Goff took his fourth sack of the game.

Detroit also had a health concern. Center Cade Mays was declared questionable to return with an ankle injury.
