A six-year-old boy who was critically injured in a suspected arson attack at his family home in County Waterford has died.

Elliot English died on Friday at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) hospital in Crumlin in Dublin.

His parents, Kim English and Philip English, and two of his siblings, 12-year-old Callum and nine-year-old Jayden, died in the house fire on Birch Avenue, on the outskirts of Waterford on 13 October.

A multiple murder investigation was launched by Gardaí (Irish police) following the fire.

In a brief statement on Friday, Irish police said: “The thoughts of all members of An Garda Síochána are with the extended English family at this sad time.”

A number of people arrested by police in connection with the attack have all been released without charge.

In the days after the attack, hundreds of people attended a prayer vigil.
