An investigation has been launched following the incident which occurred during a training session earlier this month
Australian rugby star Angus Scott-Young has been left with a fractured eye socket following a pre-season training ground fight with NSW Waratahs teammate Miles Amatosero.
Scott-Young, who previously played for Northampton Saints in the Gallagher PREM, is now a doubt for the start of the Super Rugby season, which kicks off in February, having reportedly been punched multiple times by Amatosero during a training session. Rugby Australia is now investigating the incident, which happened on January 10 at the team’s training ground near Sydney.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the punch-up broke out during a game simulation when giant lock Amatosero tackled Scott-Young off the ball, to which the loose forward took exception.

While on the floor, 6ft 8in Amatosero reportedly punched his teammate in the head three times before other members of the squad rushed in to intervene and pull the pair apart.
But as they got back to their feet, Scott-Young reportedly said something to Amatosero, leading the towering second row to punch him twice more.
The blows left the former Queensland Reds forward – the son of former Wallabies back-rower Sam Scott-Young – with a fractured eye socket and multiple stitches, according to reports.
There is not believed to have been any previous bad blood between the two teammates.
Amatosero is reported to have apologised for his actions after training, with the Waratahs initially not going to take action against the 19st 10lb star.
However, due to the severity of Scott-Young’s injuries, Rugby Australia – who operate the Waratahs franchise – are now investigating the incident alongside the club’s management.
With the Waratah’s Super Rugby Pacific season kicking off at home to Queensland Reds on February 13, they could start the campaign with two men down.
Due to his injuries, Scott-Young – who arrived at the Waratahs in the off-season from Northampton – is now a doubt to make his debut in the opening round, while Amatosero could now face suspension.
A statement issued to ESPN reads: “The NSW Waratahs and Rugby Australia are aware of an incident that occurred recently during a Waratahs preseason training session and are reviewing the matter.”
