The 30-year-old is set to join up with his new teammates next month
Former Wales international Tyler Morgan is set to join up with French third-tier side Nissa Rugby next month after leaving Pro D2 side Biarritz.
The 30-year-old centre, who has five Test caps, has spent the last three-and-a-half years in France after being released from the Scarlets in May 2022. Morgan has gone on to play 59 times for Biarritz, scoring nine tries, and made nine starts for them this season before injuring his ankle at the start of December.
Now, he has been released mid-season to join Nissa, who rebranded from Stade Nicois last summer following their relegation from the second tier to the Nationale, on a one-year deal.

According to French publication Midi Olympique, Morgan’s arrival is seen as a “significant boost” for his new club as they push for an immediate return to the Pro D2.
Nissa are locked in a hotly-contested promotion race, as they currently sit top of the Nationale table level on points with Massy, while Chambery and Albi trail them by just a single point.
The report from Midi Olympique adds that, after the club announced the signing last week, the Welshman will join up with the squad on February 4, following English lock Joel Kpoku to the third-tier outfit.
He won’t be the only Welshman at Nissa this season, with fellow Wales international Owen Williams also in the squad and former Wales U20s assistant Gareth Baber the head coach.
Williams and Baber joined the club amid a massive overhaul following their relegation from the Pro D2, with president Jean-Baptiste Aldige bringing in 20 new players ahead of the current season.
Morgan, who also played for the Dragons, made his Wales debut at the age of 19 in 2015 and represented his country at the Rugby World Cup later that year, lining up alongside Jamie Roberts in the quarter-final against South Africa
However, the big international future he was once tipped for never materialised, amid struggles with injury and illness.
After leaving Welsh rugby behind for a new life with Biarritz in 2022, Morgan told the South Wales Argus: “I have always wanted to play abroad but wanted to give playing for Wales another shot.
“I have taken myself out of my comfort zone with a new challenge. I jumped at the chance, I have come over with an open mind and I just want to enjoy it. I just want to play because I was fit all year for the Scarlets but just never got selected.
“We will see where it goes,” he added. “Wales is still home but I am lucky enough to have a career like this where you can explore different places, and the scenery here in Biarritz is amazing.
“It’s an opportunity to get out of the Welsh bubble, have new experiences and play in different rugby.”
