The famous invitational club will take on Wales’ men and women’s teams at Allianz Stadium in June
Wales’ men and women’s teams will take on the Barbarians in a double-header at the Allianz Stadium this summer.
This year sees the start of the Nations Championship, with Wales playing Fiji, Argentina and South Africa instead of a traditional summer tour. To warm up for the new competition, Steve Tandy’s side will take on the Baa-Baas at Twickenham.
Sean Lynn’s women’s side will also feature in the double-header at the home of English rugby on Saturday, June 27.
Wales share a long history of playing the famous invitational club, having first met in 1915.

Their last match was after the 2023 World Cup, with the game in Cardiff serving as a farewell to Alun Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric and Leigh Halfpenny.
Over the years, a number of Welsh greats have also turned out for the Barbarians.
“Barbarians fixtures excite supporters like no other and being able to announce a double header encounter will only amplify that excitement,” John Spencer, president of Barbarian FC said.
“Our men’s and women’s teams will be centre stage in a landmark day of rugby in London as we take on a true rugby nation, twice in one day – Wales. The day will be a prime example of what Barbarians F.C. stand for – flair, passion and the global spirit of the game.
“This fixture will mark another chapter in our history. I’m excited to see the squads announced and we can’t wait to deliver a showcase of rugby that reflects the best of this great club.”
Tandy will now have an extra match to prepare for the inaugural Nations Championship.
Wales take on Fiji, Argentina and South Africa in consecutive weekends in July.
The Springbok clash will be in Durban, but no venue has been announced for the other two matches – although the Fiji game is expected to be on British soil.
“Playing against the Barbarians is always a very special occasion,” said Tandy. “They play with freedom and creativity and bring together some of the best players in the world.
“This is a game that will be an important part of our preparation as we gear up for the Nations Championship and I’m sure it will offer up some exciting action for fans.”
Wales women’s head coach Lynn added: “The Baa-Baas are a key part of rugby’s culture and history and have the ability to attract world class talent and we are delighted to have the opportunity to play them at the home of rugby.”
Fiona Stockley, Barbarians Women’s lead and committee member, said: “The club is delighted to welcome the Welsh Women’s squad to the Allianz Stadium for a repeat of our double-header fixture in 2019 at Principality Stadium; we see this second fixture as a measure of the rich history between the Barbarians club and Welsh rugby.
“The Barbarians spirit in every team assembled is all about flair, skill, and camaraderie, and we expect a truly entertaining brand of rugby from a rich squad of players. You can expect to see stars of both the global stage and the English PWR league in our women’s fixture, following on from an incredibly successful RWC 2025, which has increased visibility and participation levels for women and girls.”
Tickets for the match go on general sale from 11am on Thursday, January 29 via Ticketmaster.co.uk and England Rugby, starting from just £40 for adults and £20 for under-16s.
