“AEW should keep Shelton and release the other two” – Fans react to backstage report about The Hurt Syndicate refusing to lose

The Hurt Syndicate recently found themselves at the center of rumors over their supposed refusal to lose in AEW. Fans are now reacting to the speculations on this matter on social media, just ahead of the faction’s imminent programming return.

The Hurt Syndicate’s booking in AEW has been somewhat questionable and inconsistent for some time now. When the group returned a few months ago, MVP announced that his clients were no longer chasing championship gold, but would instead be serving as hired guns in exchange for money. This led to a brief alliance between the former WWE superstars and Shane Taylor Promotions, although their partnership got dissolved at All In: London, where Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley defeated STP alongside Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall.

The Standard of Excellence and the All-Mighty have not been in action since their multi-person victory over Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty and the Infantry at Wembley. In the midst of their hiatus, earlier this month, reports came out claiming that the Hurt Syndicate have supposedly rejected multiple pitches of them losing in AEW. The conjecture pointed to Swerve Strickland not getting his singles win back against Lashley, as well as the way neither he nor Benjamin was pinned when they lost the tag titles last year.

Fans are now reacting to the speculations of the Hurt Syndicate’s alleged refusal to take losses in AEW. The responses have been varied, with many users criticizing the stable and its manager MVP for being overprotective of his teammates, while others argued that stars of their caliber, especially Bobby Lashley, should be discerning about who gets to beat them on the company’s programming. Some commenters went so far as to suggest that Tony Khan should consider retaining Shelton Benjamin’s services and let his stablemates leave.

MVP’s post after AEW announced the Hurt Syndicate’s return

This Saturday’s special Fright Night edition of AEW Collision will air from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. Recently, the promotion revealed that the upcoming episode will witness the long-awaited return of the Hurt Syndicate, following on the heels of rumors regarding their willingness to put over their peers in the company. Not long after the announcement, MVP took to Instagram to cheekily allude to the aforementioned conjecture and hype up his clients’ imminent comeback.

“Heard any good rumors lately?” he wrote.

It remains to be seen what lies next on the Hurt Syndicate’s All Elite Wrestling journey.
